Categories

The Shorty is for racers of all levels, from beginners to pros. There are enough classes for anyone to find some good competition: 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade, Open C class, 35+ C class, Women, Open B class, 35+ B class, Open A class, and 35+ A class. Racers self-select their category, though management reserves the right to move a racer up to a more advanced category when warranted.

Kids

Children younger than middle school age are invited to race this class. The very short course is suitable for balance bikes and pedal bikes, but not for training wheels. All kid racers get a number plate and must sign a waiver. Free!

Middle school

The Summit Shorty’s middle school races are part of the Nor Cal Middle School race series. Learn more.

Women are welcome to compete in any class, but the Women’s Class offers separate series points and prizes.

C Class racers do 4 laps.

B Class

Series points and scoring

Points are given to racers for their finish place at each race, and totaled for series points. Each racer’s lowest score is dropped. See our scoring grid.

Points at The Summit Shorty Deluxe (May 26th) are doubled.

Final series results will be announced and prizes will be given to the top 5 in each class at our final race and cookout on May 26th at McInnis Park. Racers must be present for the final podium in order to receive series awards.
