About B-17 Racing

B-17 Racing came about out of necessity.

In 2006, we founded The Summit Shorty to address the lack of accessible mountain bike racing in Marin County. We wanted to create a race series that would simultaneously provide a competitive training opportunity for experienced XC racers and welcome aspiring mountain bike racers.

Since then, The Shorty has hosted thousands of local cyclists, from 2-year olds on balance bikes to pro-level legends.

B-17 Racing was formed in 2018 in pursuit of our ongoing goal to get more people racing mountain bikes. We produce supportive, inclusive, challenging, and competitive events designed to meet the needs of the Bay Area’s robust and diverse cycling community.
